The Peachtree City Water and Sewerage Authority (PCWASA) and Fayette Water System participated in the Georgia Model Water Tower Competition for Fayette County Students at J.C. Booth Middle School on Thursday Oct. 26, 2017. PCWASA Chairman Bill Holland served as a judge, while General Manager advised students during the competition.
PCWASA staff helped organize the 2015 Georgia Model Water Tower Competition, in addition mentoring students participating in the event.
The 2013 Model Water Tower Competition was a statewide contest for middle school students, sponsored by the Georgia Association of Water Professionals and the Georgia Section of the American Water Works Association. PCWASA Division Manager Keisha Lisbon Thorpe served as the event’s co-chairman, while PCWASA General Manager served as an adviser for students on the day of the judging.
The Spring Conference and Expo of the Georgia Association of Water Professionals was held during mid-April in Macon, as a gathering of industry leaders shared technical information to help advance the profession statewide. One of the technical sessions during the conference was led by PCWASA Construction Manager Nathan Brooks.
The Georgia Association of Water Professionals (GAWP) held its fourth quarter Executive Luncheon in December, featuring a legislative preview of the 2014 session of the Georgia General Assembly. PCWASA General Manager Stephen Hogan was on hand to listen to the issues, bills, and laws, under consideration by the State Legislature this coming year. Guests speakers included Sen. Rick Jeffares and Georgia EPD’s Russ Pennington.
The 2015 Annual Conference & Expo of the Georgia Association of Water Professionals (GAWP) was held July 12-15, in Savannah. Water Professionals from the Peachtree City Water and Sewerage Authority led technical sessions, committee meetings and presentations, while the Authority serves as a utility patron sponsor during the 2015 program year.
The Open House at the Peachtree City Water and Sewerage Authortiy headquarters and Rockaway Plant was held on Saturday, Nov. 3, 2012, in part to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the utility.
The Georgia Association of Water Professionals presented a proclamation to the Peachtree City Water and Sewerage Authority during a luncheon on Nov. 2, to commemorate the utility’s 25th Anniversary.
Prior to the start of the 2017-18 school year, PCWASA hosted teachers from Fayette County Public Schools for a tour of the Rockaway Plant. In doing so, the local educators saw examples of how to use PCWASA facilities for the teaching of STEAM curricula.
