New slate of officers leading PCWASA in 2011

Jan 4, 2011 by Dr. Chris Wood

The Peachtree City Water and Sewerage Authority (PCWASA) welcomed two new members to its board of directors this year, as well as a new group of officers to lead the utility in 2011.

Mike Harman, who has nine years of experience on the PCWASA Board, has been selected by his fellow board members to serve as President of the Authority, with Tim Meredith serving as Vice President and Vanessa Birrell as Treasurer this year. Phil Mahler and Luis Valencia round out the current five-member PCWASA Board of Directors.

Harman has served the PCWASA Board of Directors on two separate occasions, most recently since 2008. He is the Manager of Municipal Sales for Biorem, a company that provides air pollution control technology and equipment for wastewater treatment processes and other industries. Thus, Harman’s professional experience and public service are closely related. In fact, he often works with engineering companies on industry projects that provide him with valuable insights to bring home for consideration at the PCWASA.

Tim Meredith, who has more than 25 years of industry experience, is the Business Development Manager for Porex Technologies in Fairburn. He has lived in Peachtree City for approximately 15 years, and has served on the PCWASA Board for approximately nine years. Phil Mahler, who has resided in Peachtree City for five years, is a retired federal agent who performed and supervised audits of businesses for the U.S. Internal Revenue Service.

Birrell and Valencia are newcomers to the PCWASA Board. Birrell is the Director of Stormwater Management for the Fayette County Stormwater Management Department, while Valencia is President and Co-Founder of Housing & Housing, LLC – a residential and commercial construction company with offices in Georgia, Florida, and Louisiana.
